At approximately 1:00 am on Sunday September 15th, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Swift Water Rescue Team was dispatched to assist the Courtland Fire Department in responding to a report of a stranded individual on the roof of his truck amidst rising floodwaters on County Road 150.
The Morgan County Rescue Squad’s Swift Water Rescue Team were called to assist, deploying a rescue boat to the scene.
Swift Water Rescue Divers entered the fast-moving floodwaters and safely retrieved the stranded individual. The subject was transferred to a rescue boat and brought to safety without injury.
The operation took approximately 5 hours to complete.
