Most folks forgot the last half of “Country & Western” music, but we didn’t! We’ve set aside Sunday evenings to bring you the best in Western music, Cowboy songs, and Western Swing music on The Radio Ranch. But the music’s not all you’ll hear!
Tune in at 7:00 pm to hear the world’s most famous western drama, “Gunsmoke” as it was originally broadcast… on the radio! Starring William Conrad, Parley Baer, Howard McNear, and Georgia Ellis, the radio version of Gunsmoke began in 1952, three years before the TV series premiere. It would last for nine seasons.
Following Gunsmoke, we’ll play another western radio show such as the cavalry classic “Fort Laramie” starring Raymond Burr, or “The Six Shooter” with Western favorite James Stewart, among others.
At 8pm, the music starts with western and cowboy songs to take you back out west to a simpler time. The Sons of The Pioneers, Eddy Arnold, Rex Allen, Tex Ritter, and other great artists provide the soundtrack for the rodeos and cattle drives of years past.
But don’t doze off at your campfire just yet, because when 10:00 rolls around, we’ll move to the biggest dance halls and ballrooms from Austin to Tulsa where you’ll hear the big band sound of Western Swing! Trade in your faded blue jeans and old horse for your Sunday best and a high-powered Cadillac as you hear the best from Bob Wills, Milton Brown, Hank Thompson, Asleep At The Wheel, and all the rest of the Western Swing artists spanning seven decades.
The Radio Ranch is just another reason to stay tuned to 94.5 FM and our digital stream right here on our website!
